Daniel Vines-Mevec, of Buchanan, was arrested on Monday, July 15, after Yorktown Police responded to A.C.Moore Arts & Crafts at 3333 Crompond Road, for a report of the theft of 16 cans of spray paint worth $120 by two people, said the Yorktown Police.

When police arrived, store employees were able to provide a description of the car the suspects were driving. Police broadcast a description of the vehicle to other departments and a short time later Peekskill Police stopped the vehicle with Vines-Meve driving, police said.

In the vehicle, police allegedly found the stolen spray paint.

An investigation linked Vines-Meve to the alleged spray painting of the sound barrier on Route 6, police said.

He was charged with petit larceny and making graffiti.

Vines-Meve was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on August 15.
